BooksFromBeyond.com – For all your Necronomicon needs

The Necronomicon rears its human-skinned book cover head in Ash’s life again, and he turns to supernatural bookstore BooksFromBeyond.com to help him find out its secrets.

Used in Ash vs Evil Dead

In the pilot episode El Jefe [S01E01], Ash has a bar bathroom encounter with a Deadite that he thinks may have been triggered by the Necronomicon – Book of the Dead. Going back to his trailer to make sure he still has it, a baggie with leftover weed remnants jogs a memory of a drug fueled attempt to woo a woman by reading foreign sounding ‘poetry’ from the book, and he realizes that he’s responsible for releasing the demonic creatures on Earth.

Preparing to leave town the next morning, Ash digs out a business card covered in supernatural symbols for the bookstore Books From Beyond, and turns it over to reveal the store’s info including the domain  BooksFromBeyond.com. Calling the number, Ash mentions bringing in the book years ago “bound in human flesh, inked in blood” and asks for help translating it. The owner agrees, and Ash starts his journey to the bookstore with companions and Deadites in tow.

UploadedHistory.com – The Good Wife

How UploadedHistory.com is used in The Good Wife:

Setting the premise, the first episode [S01E01] of The Good Wife opens on a closeup of a couple’s held hands as they make their way down a hallway to a room of shouted questions and camera flashes. Letting go of her husband’s hand but still symbolically standing by him near the podium, Alicia plays the ‘Good Wife’ part during her husband’s press announcement where he admits to extra marital affairs and attempts to maintain his political career. After the conference is over and out of the public eye, she resoundingly slaps him.

Six months later, with her husband officially in custody and out of office as Illinois State Attorney for Cook County, Alicia is starting a new job as a junior attorney at a law firm where the memory continues to haunt her in the form of a  video of the conference playing on a co-workers computer via YouTube clone UploadedHistory.com under the heading “State Attorney Peter Florrick: Caught With His Pants Down”

Searching on the book’s title brings up the fact that the writer used a pen name, which shines a light on additional motives and helps solve the murder.

In Juliet Takes A Luvvah [S07E02], Gus turns to dating site SoulmateConnect.com after a long series of romantic misadventures to  a search for true love and finds a potential match with an Indian beauty who loves pie. Expressing concern for his friend’s safety, Shawn soon has a different reason to worry when they find a dating profile for Shawn’s girlfriend Jules. His romantic fears are alleviated, however, when he discovers that Jules is ‘only’ undercover to track down a serial killer by meeting with the men the victims had connections with on the site.

Later in the episode, Captain Vick brings in an expert from the website to fine-tune Jules’ profile to help catch the killer, but identifies him as a technician from SoulmateCONNECTION.com. Given that domain used in the graphic SoulmateConnect.com was registered by the parent company of the USA network and SoulmateConnection.com wasn’t, I believe this was just a mistake in the script or by the actor.

In the episode, the domain is used both on-screen and in casual discussion.

In The Ebony Falcon [S01E14], Gina’s apartment is broken into and stolen from. Talked into using the police by her captain, she becomes frustrated with the lack of progress and seemingly cavalier attitude about the theft by the detectives in the precinct and eventually introduces the assigned Detectives Diaz and Santiago to Leo Sporm – the private investigator she hired. On Diaz calling all PI’s hacks, the scene immediately cuts to the Sporm’s PI commercial with its low production values and list of investigatory services such as cheating husbands, kids on drugs, and nudies of anyone. Selling himself as the only one with the qualifications to find out if YOUR husband is a murderer, the commercial flashes his phone number and the URL www.eyesnoop4u.com at the bottom of the screen. After Captain Holt explains that the source of her animosity is fear generated by the break-in, Diaz and Santiago go back to Gina’s apartment and work to make her feel safe again.
